HOW TO MAKE YOUR VIDEO PRESENTATION

DO’S

  • Video must be horizontal

  • Have your phone steady in front of you. Position it on a shelf or something similar. Don’t have someone holding it. it will be shacky!

  • Have a natural source of light (window) coming either from in front of you or from your side. Not behind!

  • Use the back camera of your smartphone so you focus on looking straight into the camera and not at yourself on the screen

  • Find a quiet place and avoid background noise

  • Have your phone as steady as possible in front of you

  • Have your phone as aligned with your eyes as much as possible

  • Try to be standing in front of the camera

  • Record from your chest to above

  • Focus on telling your story, and why you are considered a local expert. Convince the viewer that your knowledge is going to be a crucial addition to the success of the surf trip

  • Record the video in English but, If you speak multiple languages, please use them at the end of the video. Show off your skills. You will be more appealing to a wider market

  • Video must be horizontal!

DON’TS

  • Don’t mention your full name or where you work (let’s avoid people contacting you privately)

  • Don’t be in crowded and noisy places

  • Don’t hold the phone with your hand (selfie mode)

  • Don’t describe what surfsmarlty.io is. If they are watching your video, they already know. Focus on pitching your expertise

  • Don’t go above 3-minutes

Need to work on your profile photo? You don’t need a professional camera. Use your phone!

  • Try to be standing in front of the camera

  • Have a nice background

  • Smile… you are a surfer at the end of the day!

  • Don’t have other people in the photo

  • Don’t hold the phone with your hand (selfie mode)

  • Don’t have light coming from behind you
